Course description
This is jointly delivered by a qualified speech and language therapist (SLT) and occupational therapist (OC) who will provide case histories of typical children who need support. The course will give ideas about how to identify and help these children including developing appropriate targets to incorporate into SEN support plans. It will also help you understand when to refer and how to access the CYP Integrated Therapies Service.
Training objectives

  •  To raise awareness in the EY workforce of the role of the SLT and OT.



  •  To provide information on when and how to refer to CYP Therapies.



  •  To enable early years practitioners to be able to develop appropriate targets for these children to incorporate into SEN support plans.

Learning outcomes
·         Understand the role of SLTs and OTs and how and when to request involvement

·         Have practical ideas about how to support children in their EY setting with identified speech and language or occupational therapy needs.

·         Know where to access information and activities to support children with a range of needs

·         Know how to develop SMART targets for SEN support plans.
Additional Information
Delegates will need to attend both parts – these have been split across two days to minimise the time on screen in one day.
