Course description
This workshop is designed to support EY SENCO’s in their completion of the SEN support plan, the High Needs Funding (HNF) and the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) application forms.
In this session, you will explore with EY SEND advisors:


  • What information is required on the three documents

  • Common misconceptions and errors 

  • The importance of coproduction with parents 

Training objectives

  • The training provides an opportunity to explore the SEN support plan in detail – discussing the key information needed to consider and include.

  • The training provides an opportunity to explore the HNF application form in detail – discussing the key information needed to consider and include.

  • The training provides an opportunity to explore the EHCNA form in detail – discussing the key information needed to consider and include.

Learning outcomes

  • To recognise the role of SEND support and understand where the process of “assess, plan, do review” fits into the SEND Code of Practice

  • To understand the importance of coproduction with parents and feel confident in approaching this process with the parents of children with SEND in my setting

  • To have an overview of the Buckinghamshire specific documents relating to SEND support, HNF and EHC needs assessment and know where to go to find the master documents and guidance documents

Settings are advised to access this training via a computer rather than a tablet or mobile phone to ensure they can see the documents clearly.
If setting have been awarded inclusion fund, they may use a proportion of this to pay for the course.

Reading material will be provided by email prior the main session.
